For the second time, BEAF, Bozar Electronic Arts festival, surrounds the Palais des Beaux Arts in Brussels from September 26th to 28th. This year, guest of honor is Quebec through a programming proposed by the festival Elektra. Installations, performances, workshops and parties, overview of this edition.
Cycloïd-ε, by Cod.Act - André & Michel Décosterd, is a big metal scupture. Such an articulated arm, it begins moving. Slowly, then taking some strength, its movements increase, every segment of the arm producing a particular sound (the piano, the cello, the violin, the clarinet, and diverse percussions) which modifies with the speed. The most amazing in this mechanical ballet is the strange sensation of flexibility which gets free of it.
With A Scanner Darkly (also a title of Philip K. Dick's novel), Pierce Warnecke takes us into a fiction. A non-human machine analyses objects and transforms datas into audiovisual creations.
Nicolas Bernier et Martin Messier invites us in La Chambre des Machines (Machines room). The only feature of these machines is be manipulated by both performers to produce sounds and images in total synaesthesia. Between Bruitistes and electronic music, the project puts back the gesture in the center of a digital universe.

Focus québec is also part of Quinzaine numérique, initiated by Digital art organisation of Wallonie-Bruxelles federation.
